The challenge
Elixir VI is a bar promoting an upscale offering in a growing town. The website needs to help people understand what makes the experience worth choosing: the cocktails, the atmosphere, and the possibilities for an evening out. The challenge is to communicate that sense of occasion while making the practical details of a visit easy to find.
Our approach
We shaped the redesign around discovery and invitation. Editorial typography, the bar’s navy, cream, and gold palette, and real cocktail photography communicate the offering before a guest arrives. Searchable drinks, connected event listings, and private-gathering inquiries give that first impression a practical next step.
An upscale impression,
made tangible.
Navy, cream, and gold establish the palette. Expressive serif typography and generous spacing give the cocktails an editorial presentation, while the photography shows the drinks themselves.
The tarot-inspired cocktail deck turns the bar’s visual character into an interaction: guests select a card, discover a drink, and continue to its menu entry. Motion supports that discovery, with an immediate response for keyboard users and reduced-motion preferences.
Atmosphere with a practical purpose
- A shared palette connects the homepage, menu, events, and gathering pages.
- Cocktail photography and ingredient details make the offering concrete.
- Display typography carries the personality; clear navigation supports planning a visit.
- Shared menu content connects featured drinks to the searchable Grimoire.
A little magic,
in the language.
The witchy language is part of how Elixir VI introduces the experience. Naming the cocktail menu The Grimoire and using seasonal language such as Autumn Omens turns browsing into an invitation to discover something, extending the tarot imagery and the bar’s atmosphere into the copy.
That voice gives the upscale offering personality and a sense of occasion. Ingredient lists, availability notes, event details, and inquiry actions provide the practical information guests need to choose a drink or plan a visit.
A menu to explore.
A drink to find.
The Grimoire opens like an editorial spread, then becomes a practical menu. Guests can browse by category or search across drinks and ingredients. On a phone, a compact category selector replaces the desktop tabs.
Ingredient lists stay visible, with drink stories available on demand and sharing close at hand. Search results keep their category context, and past seasonal drinks carry an availability note.
The homepage’s seasonal features and cocktail cards draw from the same Grimoire content. A featured drink leads straight to its menu entry.

Character you can
interact with.
The homepage’s cocktail deck turns the tarot theme into a way to discover a drink. Selecting a card brings it forward; following it opens that drink in the Grimoire.
Custom motion gives the deck its physical feel. Keyboard selection settles immediately, and reduced-motion preferences are respected.

Choose a night.
See what’s on.
Guests can switch between upcoming events and a monthly calendar. Dates, descriptions, sharing, and ticket links sit within the same visual language as the rest of the site.
The existing Google Calendar and Eventbrite integrations supply the schedule. The redesign makes that information easier to browse without adding a second publishing job for the venue.

A small gathering.
Or the whole place.
The private-booking experience gives the Bourbon Street Parlor and larger private events their own paths. Interior photography, capacity, and service details help guests understand the space before making an inquiry.
The form starts a conversation about the evening. Confirmation stays with the venue’s team, so an inquiry never reads as a completed booking.

Cocktails and dinner.
A connected evening.
Elixir VI and The Lover’s Bite connect the bar experience with the gluten-free food offering. Their websites make that relationship easy to discover through links between the brands, helping guests plan food and drinks together.
A shared thread of tarot and magic connects their visual identities. Elixir’s editorial cocktail presentation and The Lover’s Bite’s food-led design give each brand a distinct focus.

A connected experience.
The redesign gives Elixir VI a way to present its upscale offering to a growing local audience. Cocktail discovery establishes the character of the bar; events and private-gathering paths help guests picture an occasion to visit. Design, motion, content, and integrations support the same business story.
